The Japanese brand will soon be offering the Honda CR-V hybrid. With the increasing popularity of electric-fuel vehicles, it was about time! Honda Laval, close to Montreal and Terrebonne, tells you all about the arrival of this all-new hybrid vehicle, and gives us the latest scoop.

Even though it has been riding along US roads for two years now, the Honda CR-V SUV is still not available in Canada. It will hit our roads by 2023 and will be assembled in the Alliston factory, in Ontario.

Honda Canada’s CEO, Jean-Marc Leclerc, is very happy to see the CR-V family expanding. He has greatly insisted on the fact that “Hybrid powertrains* will be included in the top and best performing models in the Honda lineup”, including the CR-V. Honda hybrids are increasingly popular, and are leading us towards more economical and ecological engine options.

Yes, the family is expanding! The CR-V already exists in several versions:

  • CR-V LX
  • CR-V Sport
  • CR-V EX-L
  • CR-V Touring
  • CR-V Black Edition

To this long list, we can now add the 2023 CR-V hybrid.

About the hybrid SUV

The arrival of the CR-V hybrid on Canadian soil for 2023 coincides with the new generation of the Honda SUV. It is a very important step in the transition towards eMobility that was announced back in 2021 by the Japanese brand.

More interesting yet, with the dual engine CR-V hybrid, you will not have to sacrifice exciting performance or the joy of the driving experience. Quite the opposite in fact: the ecological efficiency offered by the hybrid vehicle will remain intact. This means an impressive 212 horsepower will give you the athletic performance you need for quicker accelerations, more powerful overtakes and a more agile driving experience. Moreover, the real-time all-wheel drive system will provide you with all the traction you need as much on bumpy roads as on the highway.

As for design, let’s begin by saying that the CR-V hybrid has a redesigned hood that gives it a modern and dynamic style that is sure to get noticed everywhere it goes. With LED fog lights, your visibility will be increased as you will see easily and far ahead, and will also be spotted by others quickly, which will make your rides safer even when conditions do not. Even if color options have yet to be officially revealed, there is already talk of an exciting color pallet that will make the sports utility vehicle even more stylish.

Just like in the 2022 Honda CR-V versions, you can expect to feel welcomed and lavished by a refined interior offering the highest-quality materials, and a user friendly space. You can also take advantage of comfortable powered seats, generous legroom (front and back) and a large cargo space; in short, this means you will have access to everything that is already available on the current CR-V and much more.

Official images that are still top secret

When we take the time to take a closer look at the CR-V hybrid that is already roaming American streets, we are easily fascinated by its style and dynamism. Since this will be the compact SUV’s 6th generation, we can expect some novelties, but also great surprises.

Unfortunately, current images do not allow us to describe the sports utility hybrid vehicle in greater detail; but its square build already shows outstanding aerodynamics that we cannot wait to see in real life!

Perhaps an extra row for passengers?

One question keeps popping up… Behind these top secrets images, would a third row of seats, allowing the CR-V hybrid to welcome up to 6 or 7 passengers, be hiding? If Honda has this up its sleeve, it would mean that the new utility vehicle will give its rivals fierce competition.

One thing is for sure: from everything we’ve seen, it looks like the vehicle has a more elongated silhouette. Stay tuned until newer and more official pictures make their way.

Arrival date and price

Even we expect the new CR-V to be arriving later on in the year, we still know nothing of its price. If we take into account prices in the US, we can logically deduce that prices in Canada will be slightly higher than the base price for the current CR-V, which is $ 33,535.

We should also be receiving more information shortly, including details regarding main features, technologies and characteristics for this Canadian hybrid vehicle.
